Imagine radio plays from the 1920s, bringing families together for a shared experience of “theatre of the mind”…
Voice of the Shuswap community radio in Salmon Arm received a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada in spring 2016 to create programming in the style of Old Time Radio. The grant enabled the Broadcast Society to hire necessary technical personnel, and contact theatre groups in the Shuswap area. CKVS-FM recreated the magic of “theatre of the mind” using each group’s talented actors, live Foley sound effects, and modern recording equipment to create 5 productions. These Old Time Radio productions were performed and recorded in front of a live audience in each community. Theatre groups received honorariums and copies of the recordings. The 5 works are posted here for your listening pleasure.
